We turned our back on mental health care beginning in the Reagan administration. While they may have meant well, the results have been disastrous for so many suffering from mental issues

I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be mostly a leadership/culture problem. Command can add or remove a lot of pressure from service members outside of the normal mission. When I felt pressure or relief, it was usually by the actions of leadership; not so much because of the mission (peacetime for me).

This needs an investigation right now by someone outside the chain of command
