Yes it does, and for the most damaged (aggravated by their honorable service), a medical retirement is appropriate IMHO.

My uncle Larry was in Vietnam and was wounded on both his tours. He died from agent orange complications. He was shot before he joined the army. I'm sure it affected him somewhat, but you could never tell it. He raised 7 kids. I've met tough guys in my life, and he was as tough as they come, but he had an inner peace that astounded everyone who met him.
