A Behind the Scenes look at the IJN Fleet of Tora Tora Tora

It is amazing how the American and Japanese film companies work together to make this as realistic as possible. The Japanese built life-size mockups of the aircraft carrier Akagi and yamamoto's Flagship battleship Nagato.
I know the Americans built a partial replica of the back of the battleship Nevada which they used in the movie as well when it was underway and being attacked by bombs and torpedoes.
In 2012, I did go to Hawaii for an Army Reserve exercise related to the Korean Key Resolve Exercise.
Before and after the exercise, I had a chance to go to Pearl Harbor and Fort Shafter and the US Army Headquarters Pacific. I was able to go to Ford Island. I also went to him field and saw bullet holes in some of the buildings from the Pearl Harbor attack.
I have attached a 20th Century Fox film report on Japanese production of the movie in the comments.

I saw this movie when I was 8 years old when it first came out and I have seen it every few years since then.

As a history buff I loved this movie. I know it was slow paced but it was just jam-packed with little tidbits.
My first visit to the Arizona Memorial was in October 1984. It wasn't a national park then. I spent all day there and caught the last boat back. Truly a very significant emotional event for me.
Fast forward to May 2009. I took my wife to visit Arizona and Missouri. My wife had a very emotional visit aboard both. For the US, the two ships were the alpha and the omega events for our involvement in the Pacific.
