Not really that suspicious. Politicians do things before elections they think their voters are going to like. Ds do it, Rs do it, they all do it. Elected officials doing things they think are going to get people elected (themselves or other people they want) is kind of how everyone gets re-elected. It's one of the primary things we look for come election time, are they doing things we want them to do?
