If my memory serves me correctly, the cross on top of the hill at Camp Pendleton has been taken down, (just within the last...2 to 5 years or so), because it was offensive to some people.

SPC Gary C. - I just did a really fast search online, and numerous articles on this subject came up right away. The one at the top of the list was from FOX News, published on 11/28/2015, and stated the Commandant was expected to rule on the issue any day.
I didn't see any updates, but then again, I only spent a minute or two looking at the list of articles. AOL.com was the search engine I used, but I'm sure a similar list will come up no matter which search engine you use.
The Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers or MAAF are the one's who made such a big deal out of it.
