MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D.
The thing I learned as an LT was that no matter if you'd been an LT for 24 days or 24 months, nobody expected you to know anything. However, the day after you pinned on that 1LT bar everybody expected you to know everything. . . .

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - Often it seemed with a 2Lt they knew nothing, a 1Lt still knew nothing but now thought He did, once a Captain they are either now competent or never will be. Captain seemed to be the point where they were either going to advance to field rank or it was over.

And on this same thought...we had a Capt who probably should have been a permanent lieutenant...the guys swapped his Captain's bars for two first lieutenant bars on each side...he never noticed but the Colonel did a couple of days later... MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. SMSgt Lawrence McCarter
