Honestly, I started reading it, but she lost me in the first paragraph at “We were interchangeable with the infantry.”
Sure. Everybody is. No further need for Infantry.

The Army hasn't had (or needed) the mentality of every soldier an infantryman since Korea.

The military doesn't have a man problem, it has a political correctness problem. It has a double standard problem, the SECDEF open all jobs to women and yet there are still two different physical fitness stardards. There are still two different height and weight standards. Let them serve, but have them meet the same standards I do.

thats what ive been saying too. Like, lets get the PFT normalized across the board, and then we can talk about combat units. But progs are not coming from a place of honesty, they want what they want and any arguments they have are disengenious.

The soldiers competing for combat specialties are evaluated on the same physical fitness standard. But if we go by the same height and weight I totally agree. It would be nice to be alloted a few extra pounds and not get hips taped if you're slightly over.....

There are multiple reasons why no society outside of myth has fielded female Soldiers. Firstly, men are far, far more expendable from a societal point of view; since the number of children a man can father far exceeds that of the number of children a woman can bear, it was always men who fought.
Second, the overwhelming majority of women are simply not physically up to the task. We can alleviate this somewhat with technology but one need only look at the experience of the women admitted to Marine Infantry School, let alone Ranger School, to see this. Are there some women who can hack it? No doubt but they're most likely at a DI school on a full athletic scholarship.
Third, it's not like this hasn't been tried before. The Soviets tried it in WWII and found that beyond the physical issues, co-ed units were taking unacceptably high casualties due the men trying to protect the women. I'll say that again, co-ed units took casualties unacceptably high to the Soviet Union and Josef Stalin in WWII. Take a moment to let that sink in.
The overarching problem we seem to have in this country is that we conflate equality of rights to mean sameness of situation. They are not the same and we can come up with all the platitudes we like to try and deny that but reality hits every bit as hard as a bullet and we ignore it to our peril.

SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) - With respect, your history is incorrect. Yes, Boadicea did destroy a legion, primarily due to overconfidence/incompetence on the part of that legions commander. However, her army was wiped out by the Romans at the Battle of Watling Street when she allowed her numerical advantage to be lost by attacking the Romans on ground perfect for them.

1LT Aaron Barr - I love a good debate, and it is so hard to find now a days as people tend to get emotional rather than just discuss knowledge. Thank you for that. I do agree she lost in the end, however I would not say it was over confidence as much as it was the Roman troops were simply better trained, had better equipment, and had learned her attack methodology. If you are interested here is her timeline from victim, to general, to death.

Oh and for future conversations if you are interested in historical key points please feel free to find me on facebook or my email - [login to see] . Once ore it is a pleasure to debate with you sir!

SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) - Thank you as well for the same courtesy! As a side note, it says a lot, and none of it good, that we feel like basic courtesy and civility is something we feel deserves a thank you...
