Texas state police on Thursday updated their timeline of how the Uvalde school massacre unfolded, retracting some key information they had provided Wednesday. Texas Department of Public Security officials disclosed, for example, that the gunman wasn't actually confronted by a school police officer before entering Robb Elementary School. Their new timeline, The Associated Press reports, was most "notable for unexplained delays by law enforcement."
"What happened in those 90 minutes," AP reports, "has fueled mounting public anger and scrutiny over law enforcement's response to Tuesday's rampage."
"They said they rushed in and all that, we didn't see that," said Javier Cazares, whose 9-year-old daughter, Jacklyn, was killed while he was outside urging the police to let him storm the school. "There were plenty of men out there armed to the teeth that could have gone in faster. This could have been over in a couple minutes."

This is two school shootings thousands of miles apart where LE did not breach. It has be worried for my children here in San Antonio.

We need to dig into why they didn't breach. Many cops do. Like you, we're concerned for our granddaughters, even though we are very active with their school. Our charter school is "hardened", but lacks a metal detector. Others can and should. But, my belief is that it will take a top to bottom cultural change before we achieve the freedom of kids walking unescorted to school, and watching boys heading out with their .410s on Saturday morning - without adult supervision - to hunt dove around the stock ponds. We did only a few decades ago, we can again.

Lot of back and forth at the Friday afternoon Dart Drop today. We're heavy weighted with retired police, corrections, public defenders, a judge, priest and MD. While we are sieving the police actions, and should, we should also be following the money a barely 18yr old, occaisionally employed, high school dropout gathered to pull this off. Its only 60 miles north of Eagle Pass, TX.
Just a bunch of old guys, and gal, who've lived along la Frontera for most of our lives. Likely not as smart as those northern big city types, though.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - If they are so ill trained they should have gladly accepted the help of the parents who were willing to do so, and even more to this, why did it take so long after the federal tactile team was in position "Members of the Border Patrol tactical team, known as BORTAC, arrived with shields at 12:15 p.m. There they waited. Finally, at 12:50 p.m., the tactical team entered the room and shot and killed the suspect."
