- We push/enable manufacturing to leave this country by imposing high taxes and they go on to find countries which offer cheap labor. China becomes one of the most significant beneficiaries for these decisions.
- Noting that China is not and never has been our friend in the modern era, they have an oppressive government, and they take advantage of us with regards to trade and commerce... So in turn we are constantly faced with decisions during international emergencies, such as COVID, on whether or how we wish to continue our relationship with them. Regardless, the COVID pandemic has also hampered supply side production globally, much of which we have the ability to make here, but choose not to because of the high tax rates and stricter regulations.
- A single factory in this country, which is responsible for almost 50% of the baby formula for this country, and creates formula for three of the leading brands, is out of commission because of slow moving validation efforts by government inspectors. Granted, part of this is on the factory for not keeping in compliance, but there has to be a better way to address getting them up to code in an expedited manner. Couple this issue with a lack of supplies on their end (due to the above), we now have a serious national issue on our hands.
- Our national policy, with regards to entering this country illegally, ignoring our laws to deport them, and essentially advertising this to other nations, has encouraged even more people to come, creating an unsustainable illegal immigration problem. Additionally, we pander to the false claims for asylum, we refuse to make sound and secure immigration and border policies, and we allow these illegal immigrants to make use of our schools, health care, and apparently baby formula. Now, I'm not a monster, but going back to what led to these masses coming to our border in the first place is what I want resolved. Not finding ways to care and feed them after they get here.
- The leadership of our government, which buys things in bulk, remains completely out of touch with the American people, placing illegal immigrants on what appears to be a higher priority. We encourage them to come, we punish our border agents for doing their jobs, and we ignore the fact they do not appear when told to do so for their asylum hearings. Because so many people are coming to this nation, using kids to create anchors into citizenship, the need for formula obviously increases, which takes the supply away from the American people.
