Cpl Vic Burk - Given decades of clinical data, clinicians all know the various risk factors. I have conducted a number of root-cause analyses and psychosocial autopsies on completed suicide. The risk factors are clear.
On these sentinel events, VAC's also conduct these examinations. However, many vets who kill themselves are not enrolled in VAC care?

Lt Col Charlie Brown I can definitely see Camp Lejeune on that list. I saw way to many suicides back when I was stationed there. The Pentagon is getting this right by looking into the reasons behind it.

This Marine Corps lieutenant colonel Was a DEA agent.. After work one night, he was speaking to his coworkers about how frustrated he was on his job. I knew a full bird colonel In my army reserve unit who worked with him. The Marine Corps reserve colonel went home and Shot himself.

I suspect that there are many suicides that are alcohol related.

LTC (Join to see) That's terrible to hear of person committing suicide no matter who it is. As a high school teacher I took a class for Youth Mental Health First Aid so I had a better way to recognize student who were at risk for suicide. I have referred several for counseling. I would like to think it made a difference. I will never know but I sure would if the student killed themselves and I did nothing knowing they were at risk.
