Biden calls on Congress to secure border after first year of migration crisis

(03 01 22) Pres Biden addressed illegal immigration at his State of the Union Address. Illegal immigration at the southern border has soared shortly after Biden moved into the White House 14 months ago, rising at a faster rate in his first 6 months than during any time in the Border Patrol’s 98-year history.
More than 2,000,000 migrants were stopped while attempting to enter the United States from Mexico illegally in 2021, an astronomical figure compared to the 500,000 people stopped in recent years under the Obama and Trump administrations. Of all those stopped, approximately 700,000 were released into the US.
(There have also been more than 600,000 “getaways” caught on camera, at points where there were no border agents.)

Not sure Biden actually mentioned building walls (because they work). Article said, “he touted new technology at land ports of entry to detect drugs in vehicles passing through inspection booths and enhanced security at the Guatemala-Mexico border.”
