Just want to point out historically that flag never represented the Confederate states of America, not sure why people choose in the last 50 years to represent the CSA but it never flew over the capital of the CSA.

That flag never represented anything outside a couple of corps in the army of trans-Mississippi. The one you are thinking of had a red background with blue St. Andrew's Cross and white stars in the cross. Not a blue background with red Sr. Andrew's cross

Maj John Bell - I'm a native Michigander myself (but from the GR area, not the frozen tundra). My parents and brother keep asking me when I am moving back north. I keep asking them why they hate themselves.

SFC Casey O'Mally - I'm with you. I keep asking my wife when we are moving to Ecuador. Horse farms are cheap there. Rural crime is low and best of all, internet service in rural areas is poor at best.

You mean red confederacy. It was Trump who defended the the Confederate flag and it is southern Republican states who are opposing federal policies (Florida banning mask mandates, Texas restricting abortion, etc.). Article wrongfully tries to portray Silicon Valley like cotton plantation, but it is also invalid based on historical collusion with slave labor instead of modern competition with diverse, but underpaid employees.

On a return trip from the south 2 weeks ago, I believe going through Tennessee, the wife and I spotted a huge confederate flag flying high on a hilltop. Like, Holy Shit ! What's going on here?

Opposing federal policies is not the same as nullifying them. Saying "we think this policy is wrong and we are going to take it to court" (like the North did) is WAY different than saying "we disagree with your laws. Not only will we refuse to enforce them, we also deny you the authority to enforce them yourselves" (like the South did). Sanctuary cities (and most marijuana legalization laws) fall into the latter category. Court battles over abortion or mask mandates fall into the former.
Regarding the labor situation, since you bring it up, you completely missed the parallel that was being discussed, being obsessed with slavery and race instead. The parallel was how, just like the plantation owners of the south, the big tech CEOs own the lawmakers. The parallel was how, just like the shanty towns of the post-bellum south, the "free" (non-slave) labor is forced to live in housing that does not meet basic requirements due to their abusively low wages. Sure, you aren't a slave - but you aren't treated any better, either. The parallel was how the "cultural elite" have their own invitation-only society - and no, you aren't invited.
But hey, nice try.
