The Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior forty-six years ago today. I remember the date well because it was the 200th birthday of the Marine Corps.

Grew up about 75 miles from Duluth/Superior area where ore ships were loaded. The Edmund Fitzgerald sinking was covered extensively in the news.
