I wouldn't call it a rout, it was close, I'm not a reporter trying to sell copy either. The House of Delegates switched control to GOP, ok. I don't understand why there would be so many Dems announcing retirement. I would think that if They thought they were fighting the good fight, they'd want to stick around and continue it.

My guess is it is more beneficial in future endeavors to resign, then lose re-election.

Additionally, the last few years have perfectly demonstrated the need for term limits on EVERY government bureaucrat who has ANY LEVEL of discretionary decision-making authority.
