Excerpt: “The U.S. had swiftly toppled the Taliban following its invasion, installing in Kabul the government of Hamid Karzai. Dado, who had befriended American Special Forces, became the chief of intelligence for Helmand Province. One of his brothers was the governor of the Sangin district, and another brother became Sangin’s chief of police.“
Amir Dado was a Mujahideen warlord who ruthlessly controlled Sanjin region until Taliban sent him on the run. Only to return with US forces. Bottomline, doesn’t matter if it was the Soviets, Mujahideen, Taliban, or US sponsored Afghan government; this anecdote is one example why Afghan people in the far rural parts of the country don’t trust any form of government. All is viewed as corrupt, ruthless, authoritarian, extremist to some point negative. Just a thought.
