They will probably try to do that now if they can't trust the USA. NATO now considers POTUS Biden's words as a lie. Hope is not a method. He proved in his first 6 months in Office by not informing NATO about the false narrative that Afghanistan was not in danger of falling all while it was and he lied to the US people and his allies and told the President of Afghanistan to say the same lying narrative.
President Biden was bragging saying 'America's back' meaning that the NATO members could then goof off and not put their fair share but after what happened this past week, I think they're finally going to wake up and start putting more money on the table toward fixing their broken defense. You have Germany a couple of years back that didn't have any operational submarines, most of its fighter Jets were grounded and half its tanks were not even working.

Former communist countries of NATO: Poland, Romania, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania all are putting their 2% of Defense. So those that were once Communist know better and are making it happened.
