This is what leadership looks like. Whether you agree with his assessment or not, he stood up for what he believes. I salute you sir and we need more like you, especially in the Infantry

MSgt Steve Sweeney you could very well be correct. They are in fact my beliefs though and I try to stay consistent with my beliefs across all sides of the political spectrum. My current role is to bring violence to the enemies of America based on whatever current administration's political objectives are. I enjoy my freedom of speech, but when the time comes and a lawful order is issued I'll Roger up and do my job.

AN Tim Rafferty I agree. That however is my own opinion as I have not been given all of the information with behind closed door communications

AN Tim Rafferty the fact that it is typewritten and dated in the 60s peaks my interest even more. Thank you for the reading material!

AN Tim Rafferty - I would like to think so. That said however, if I put myself into the shoes of his men, knowing the kind of war they were fighting, it's somewhat understandable what they did. I am NOT saying it was in any way justified ... only that when soldiers have no clear grasp of the mission, with often incorrect rules of engagement, things can go haywire very quickly.
That said, LT. Calley and his men should all have landed in Ft Leavenworth's DB.
