I'm just going to go ahead and call BS here. I worked with MG Donahue in 2/75 when he was still CPT Donahue and he was an excellent example of Ranger Regiment and an all around good human. There's no chance in hell he would tell another unit to stop rescuing civilians because "its embarrassing".

This article cites no references, offers no source or quotes and states that it is written as an opinion piece.

I highly doubt this is true. There is no source in the article, it is essentially "I heard this from someone."
It is also extremely un-characteristic of US Forces to have this attitude. The General in question would know his guys are chomping at the bit to go grab Americans to bring home and pissed off they arent getting a chance to fight the Taliban. There is no way a commander would utter such a thing and risk mutiny over it.

SSG (Join to see) 100% true. Finally someone on here telling the truth. No way in hell would that come from MG Donahue.

The British SAS Commander in Kabul said to CG 82nd Airborne (to paraphrase) "... respectfully General - your opinion as to my mission is neither solicited nor appreciated. I report to Her Majesties Ministry of Defense and not your bloody moron of a President. Now if you will excuse me - I have an actual rescue mission to perform. Have a good day Sir..." (or words to that effect)

Except there's literally no sources listed so I'll take "Things that never happened for $500."
