This newly posted video by Physics Insight is quite striking... However, that said, the quality of the images is marginal at best, but most are in Color... Of particular note is the density and spread of the rocks on Utopia Planitia, the same general location of China's Zhurong Lander/Rover and who's images reflect a relative flat plain devoid of large rocks... It does give one pause that perhaps something is awry with Zhurong, something which needs to be ferreted out...
Here is the video description by Physics Insight/NASA:
"Viking 2 Lander eastward color view showing trenches and shroud:
Viking 2 Lander close-up of the surface of Mars. The metal cylinder at right is the shroud for the surface sampler instrument, which was ejected after landing. To the left of it are trenches dug by the sampling arm, and at lower right part of a footpad can be seen. Note the holes in the rocks, which appear to be vesicles produced by gas bubbles when the rocks first solidified from lava. This image was taken on 1977-09-25.
Thin coating of water ice on the rocks and soil:
The high resolution photo of the surface of Mars was taken by Viking Lander 2 at its Utopia Planitia landing site on May 18, 1979, and relayed to Earth by Orbiter 1 on June 7th. It shows a thin coating of water ice on the rocks and soil."
