It's amazing people laud Deathantis for saying parents should have a choice in whether or not their kids wear masks and should be the sole decision in medical choices - but then at the same time this is happening in his state and this couple isn't the first to have their child legally kidnapped by the state.

So what happened is she was weaning her older child because she was pregnant and sometimes when you wean babies off breastfeeding, they stop eating. So seeing that he was dehydrated, they took him into the hospital and the hospital claims they refused a B-12 intramuscular shot, which she and her partner denied they refused anything. While in this custody issue over their son, she gave birth and 10 days later they took her infant.

Now here's the kicker:

"As the Herald-Tribune, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported in May, the Mercado case involves physician Sally Smith, the head of the children protection team for Pinellas County.

Smith oversees nearly every case at All Children’s Hospital involving suspicious injuries. She is considered one of the most powerful figures in the regional child welfare system and has long been criticized by defense attorneys, parents and child welfare employees for her aggressive approach.

In some cases, she saw injuries others doctors did not."

"The USA TODAY Network, as part of an investigation of Florida’s child welfare system, previously reviewed hundreds of Smith’s cases and found more than a dozen instances where charges were dropped, parents were acquitted or caregivers had credible claims of innocence yet suffered irredeemable damage to their lives and reputations. Smith previously denied “any problems with my work.”"

This is at a Johns Hopkins All Children Hospital. Dr. Sally Smith has repeatedly lied and had children removed from their homes, tearing apart families and is still employed there. It's completely wrong. Syesha Mercado and her husband did not neglect or maltreat their child at all. Yet they have had both children ripped from them.

The "child welfare" system is inherently broken and does nothing but take healthy, loved children away from parents who care for them and seems to ignore actual abuse.
