The main problem with "stand your ground" laws is that absent video or eyewitnesses, the shooter can claim almost anything as a justification after the fact.

why is it that someone almost always goes and gets a gun? if there were no weapons involved in the initial altercation and if there were no threats made (and there might have been), a gun is not needed. just walk away. both sides. do away with "stand your ground". make it so that you have a duty to retreat if possible. obviously the bar owner had this opportunity and did just that. he should have stopped there

Stand your ground is as it was written a positive application of self defense. The shooter in this case lost a fight, walked away, over 100 feet and retrieved a firearm, then walked back towards the other party. That is NOT stand your ground, that is I'm pissed I lost the fight so I will escalate it to where I win. Candy Ass DA to not take this to court.
