Interesting passage regarding Cornwallis' early on letter to Clinton stating that he was pledging to loyally serve him and especially his "proclaiming his joy at the opportunity to 'share fortunes' with him." A telling remark regarding the "fortunes of war." That is, lands and estates to the winning leadership.
