Quote from Jim Write of Stonekettle Station:
"Describe "Critical Race Theory"
No. No. Don't wave your hands or mumble some bullshit you heard from a guy who heard it from some other guy. Describe it, academically, in detail, including origin, main points, references, goals, and impact on law and society.
If you're mad about it, you should have to start by demonstrating that you actually know what it is and that you have a functional understanding of the subject.
If you don't, then sit the fuck down."

Except that good ol' Jim isn't asking for a FUNCTIONAL understanding, he is asking for an IN DEPTH understanding.
I don't have to be able to describe the inner workings of the internal combustion engine in order to understand that cars cause pollution or that pollution is bad.
CRT - or ANY theory which teaches that one group of people are inherently "bad" (oppressive, stained by the sins of the past, evil, lesser than, or in ANY way to be looked upon negatively) is to be denounced and decried from every pulpit available. I do not give a damn what group of people are being labeled, I don't care who is doing the labeling, and I REALLY don't care what their "goals" are.
I have a functional understanding of CRT. I don't need to be able to write a thesis about it to know it is bad.

SFC Casey O'Mally - No, you don't and you just proved it. You are probably one of the "All Lives Matter" a-holes too.
Same shit, different pile. At least the honest people who know they are racists have some integrity, you don't even have that.
Nothing about CRT is about making white men feel bad, it is about acknowledging truth for what it is and trying to fix the problems that exist in the real world today.
But you don't really want to fix anything, do you? Selfish people with something to lose never do.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel
SGT Herbert Bollum Tom Cotton was in the military was an "Officer" Attended Ranger School from what I've Heard. Unfortunately You have to Understand the Base He is Always trying to Appeal to. White, Racist, Ozark Hillbillies.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - He wasn't in the real military (officers are off by themselves , in their own little world, with very few exceptions). He obviously never heard of Tuskegee.

Ok Ok Ok...Racism has always been around in the military. Whites on Blacks, blacks on whites, Asian pacific islanders against blacks and whites, native Americans versus whites and blacks, Latinos versus blacks and whites, and pick and substitute any race or ethnic background and the combinations are endless. To think we never had racism in the military is just dumb...we are a microcosm of society and yes it was and is there. HOWEVER, it in my opinion was not to the scale of the entire US...we teach our people to look past the color or origin of ones skin and to have faith and trust in the belief that I have your back and you have mine. NOW THE RUB...this woke $#!+ and Critical Race Theory and all this other new training will only divide what the military has worked hard over the years to eradicate and will only hinder mission success...By teaching any race theory you will further divide not unite the rank and file. IMHO...it is prejudicial to good order and discipline.

SPC (Join to see) - My thoughts are when you start calling things out like privilege walks and Critical Race Theory you are naturally dividing folks...not bringing them together. In the above article I attached they are segregating folks for these walks and that is naturally dividing...that is racist...segregation which we got rid of and now we are going back to it...Wrong idea and wrong way.

House Republican presses Navy chief on why critical race theory was placed on voluntary reading...
Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., expressed concern that the U.S. Navy is promoting discrimination by including books about critical race theory on a recommended reading list, specifically pointing at Ibram X. Kendi's "How to Be an Antiracist."

SPC Kevin Ford - I am not against talking about racism and that won't divide...what I am referring to are these privilege walks where we segregate and talk about privilege and oppression and critical race theory and because you are of a color you are either oppressed or privileged...that kind of rhetoric will divide.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - Worse than pretending it didn't happen and (to a lesser extent) is still happening? Because let's be clear, that's what's been going on. At some point we have to grapple with what we have done to move on and as you point out the military has played a leading role in our society when it comes to these things.
Something to noodle over, the argument you are using here is a variation on the same one why we couldn't have black people in the military, why we couldn't integrate them, why women couldn't be in the military, why we can't grapple with sexual assault in the military, why we couldn't have gay people in the military. Each time the objections were of the same theme you are raising here, each time the military went ahead and did them anyway, each time the dire predictions didn't come to pass.

I'm not sure that the walk fits the definition of segregation. Segregation is the enforced setting apart of racial groups, right? Looking at the questions in the privilege walks, I can easily imagine a poor white person taking many steps backward.

That said, there is a good faith argument to be made that the walks can be counterproductive. Though it can also bring people together.

I think that just talking about an issue doesn't have to cause division. Problems, when ignored, tend to get worse. That said, how a problem is talked about varies based upon each group, and there isn't one size fits all.
