Finnish firm Konecranes has been awarded a new order to deliver a second portal jib crane to the US Navy.
The navy placed the $43.5m order by exercising an option under a deal initially announced in December 2019.
As agreed, Konecranes will deliver a portal jib crane similar to the one ordered two years ago.
The crane will be tailored to the historical shipyard layouts of the US Navy and installed at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.
It will be equipped with the necessary features to operate on the multiple rail section sizes located at the naval base.
Additionally, the crane can be used in other naval shipyards with similar configurations.
Previously, the US Navy ordered a 175t crane for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
