I think they are underestimating the number of loyal .40 S&W shooters, because there are still pistols chambered in .40 S&W being made, plus thousands more in use. When I bought my P229, it was chambered in .40 S&W, which can also shoot .357 SIG with just a barrel swap, so even when I can't get .357 SIG ammo, I have usually been able to get .40 S&W ammo. Reloading has eliminated the ammo shortage, so I can shoot either caliber, and they cost about the same to reload.

What? I agree with a Field and Stream article. I never understood the .40 or .45GAP. OK, the grip is smaller, but you still can get better ballistics out of a cartridge that is pushing 110 years old. I've never understood the so called recoil problem of a .45ACP pistol. My wife shoots my 45 Auto better than she can the Taurus 92 clone. They have two distinctly different recoils. If I wanted something with better ballistics than a 45ACP, I would get a 10mm.
I kind of feel the same way about the 41 mag. It's an answer waiting for a question. It's not enough more powerful than a .357mag to interest me and if I wanted something bigger than a .357 I would get another 44mag, or maybe the 454 Casull.

I'm not saying that anyone has to agree with me.
But I am a 32H&R fan. From a snuggie, the 327 doesn't have enough barrel ti develop its speed and only makes for a louder shot. The 32H&R is smooth as silk, especially for the ladies and older folk who want the reliability that a wheel gun provides and delivers from a short barrel, just about all that a 38spl, 327 or 357 can at terminal.

Yes, I know when you get 4" or longer things change, but if you want one for your Mom, I still recommend the 32H&R.
