The US has been lucky because they have never had an adversary equal to themselves United States. Now they do. China is the same country the United States carefully nurtured and grew leaving their industrial poverty. In the 1960’s to the Nixon opening up China era to the world. Flying around Internationally in the 90’s it seemed to me almost every time I flew I sat next to an American who was involved somehow in helping China come into the 20th century. It was a bragging point! Look at me They implied I am helping China become part of the modern world. Some were even proud they thought they were smuggling CHRISTIAN BIBLES! A huge proud migration of US corporations manufacturing moved their manufacturing to China. Even Mitt Romney as presidential candidant crowed about his successful business in sending jobs to China and Asia.
