Gold Star Spouses Describe Pain of Losing Bereavement Benefits in Remarriage

Difficult decisions they shouldn't have to make

I'm a gold star widow...lost my marine in Vietnam at age 21 ...I went to school for nursing on the benefits.....met and married a good marine 2 years later...married for 10 years..divorced..but was able to regain my survivor benefits..although no tri care...I was allowed to reinstate my benefits with the stimulation that it was a one time only......I couldn't have supported my self with out my benefits.... And to this day continue to receive them....I feel the surviver left behind..whether male or female..earned these Support measures due to the sacrifice off their loved one..I hope the Congress does its moral duty to help gold star families...and I hope they s wonderful woman can have a happy result that her husband wanted for her....god bless ma'am..
