Well they got the easy part out of the way. They talked about it. Loud mouth people like that are brave as part of a mob or on the internet. Its usually another thing face to face, one on one.

I was stationed the Ft. Rucker in the early '70s. I was on the pay phone to my parents, when a group of nine minorities stomped up and ordered me to hang up, so the ringleader 'Cud call his women'. I pointed to the other pay phone and said, I'm on a long distance call, use that phone. The CQ slammed his door shut, and locked it.
That was followed by screaming and cursing, as another minority walked in. The ringleader asked him, "Iz ya a gonna help kick Whitey's ass?" The man sat on the stairs and asked, "Why should I" "He won't get ofna phone soz I can call ma women!" The new guy worked in the Phone section. I smiled and asked, "Do you remember showing me how to bump a pay phone and knock it off the bracket?" "He just smiled. Then I asked, "Do you have any of the special cleaner for phones that will clean off blood?" He laughed. "I just picked up two cases!" I looked at the ringleader, and noticed that two of his pack had left. "So, if I rip the phone off the wall and beat these morons to death with it, you'll help me clean up the mess?" He nodded. It will be spotless, and I'll have the phone back in place before the cowardly CQ can get the MPs here." Two more left. Then the two who had been in front f them realized no one was behind them, and they scurried off. The ringleader started bragging, "Me an my bros..." I asked, You mean those cowards who deserted you? The remaining three looked back, and two more took off running. The ringleader went pale, which was quite a feat for a black man. Then he ran for his life. My friend laughed and said, "If a fight had started, I would have been on your side. Those losers are always trying to look tough." Finally, the C unlocked his door, and complained about the noise. I told him that if he ever pulled a stunt like that again, he would be hiding in there all weekend, for the captain to rescue him. Bullies and idiots are brave if there are enough of them, but even two to nine was too much for a few of them.
I wasn't looking for trouble, but I wasn't going to run from it.
