It's a favourite 'must do' for all tourists to Britain: having your photo taken standing next to a bright red phone box.
For British people of an older generation they bring back memories of freezing conversations with friends and family in the days before the mobile phone.
But nowadays most are no longer needed for their original purpose, and so British Telecom is offering communities around Britain the chance to ‘Adopt a Kiosk” and give them a new lease of life. They just need to think of a way to use them which will benefit local people.
James Browne from BT says some communities which already have phone boxes have used them as miniature libraries, to house defibrillators and as food banks.
