I can't believe someone at the Hill wrote this.

"Beyond cyber and information operations, however, there has been a persistent lack of U.S strategic focus. The Army’s obsession with large-scale combat operations (LSCO) is an example. One justification for more LSCO training and planning is the need to prepare for “worse-case scenarios,” without any apparent recognition that the resources and time devoted to this cannot be used to address more likely contingencies. Another is that such training deters adversaries from considering employing LSCO. But in the case of Russia, the question becomes: Why would it be deterred? Why would Russia need LSCO to achieve its strategic goals, when it already can effectively counter U.S. political action? "

That's not exactly wrong at all. Russia nor China needs large scale combat operations to achieve any of its goals. They've proven that they don't need large scale combat operations repeatedly in the last several years.

I can believe it. The Hill is a liberal rag. I think this article is a bunch of froo froo academic-sounding propagandist nonsense. BHO took every chance he got to stab Putin in the back. Putin tried to talk sense to Obama and Obama ignored it and got us into Syria. Benghazi anyone? BHO pretended to go after ISIS and bombed the hell out of empty desert.

As an aside, I think Putin probably looked forward to working with someone that wasn't Hillary. It's not that he liked Trump, he just didn't want to have to deal with her. And why would anyone? Even Bill can't stand her and has to look elsewhere for what he isn't getting from her. And likewise, she went outside him to get impregnated with Chelsea. Ah yes, I remember the First Family of Dysfunction but I digress.

If Russia indeed meddled in our election, then why wasn't Trump tighter with him? Russia seeks its own interest and has an MRGA policy. In some areas, our interests overlap, and in other areas not so much, no matter who the leader of our country is.

Trump was not someone they could manipulate. Nobody could... Trump reached out to Russia to help New York and Putin saw an opportunity to look good in the eyes of the world, so of course, he was happy to send us masks. If Russia had a need for the masks they wouldn't sacrifice their own to help us. And who would expect them to do that?

It simply does not make sense to say that a handful of Russians decided our election when you had Blue States allowing millions of illegal immigrants (aka undocumented Democrat voters) to vote in our elections. The last four years have been a clown circus as the Democrats wasted $40 million on several failed coup attempts against President Trump, who despite all their interference managed to accomplish quite a bit and not just that but he kept his campaign promises to the best of his ability. Why do you think the Democrats are soft on immigration? They need MORE Democrat voters to stay in power because as Americans wake up, they stop voting Democrat. They don't care about this country or its Constitution. They rig elections... because they can and keep getting away with it. We have double standards in the media and in our Judicial System. CHEATING has become SOP for Democrats. It's how they roll now. And our media, which is supposed to be a watchdog on government has become lapdogs for the Democrats who are beholden to their Globalist masters. It's heartbreaking to see what has become of this country and its military, which stood by and watched an election get stolen. I thought we all swore oaths to protect and defend our Constitution and instead we allow ourselves to be played like pawns. How stupid is that?

The link is cut off: https://thehill.com/opinion/national-security/534473-how-americas-weaknesses-have-facilitated-russias-successes

For some reason, "successes" is missing from the link above when I click it. I believe this is the right one.

My wife has always said "A dictatorship is the most efficient form of government" There are no means of opposing Putins will. Like China, he will utilize whatever means are required to stay in power, and exert his influence in the region, to include violently and decisively cracking down on protests. Unlike the US, where opposition is faced at every step of our government process. Biden cannot unilaterally write an executive order to initiate hostile cyberwarfare against another nation, he must get congressional approval, and will face opposition, bogging down the process to execution of the directive. Putin has no such hurdle, he can order it, and it will be done. The downside to a dictatorship is, their own people. If it gets bad enough, to the point where dying to remove him is an acceptable choice, then the people will remove him. It does not help that a major power of Europe, a member nation of NATO, specifically designed to counter Russian aggression, and in the event of, defeat Russia in a conventional war, is building a pipeline to get nearly 70% of its energy needs from Russia, and is bucking at halting the project despite the EU parliament asking them to do so.

The article is stating that Russia is not going to utilize measures that would lead to war, but small precise conflicts or force application, in order to achieve his goals. While i believe the EU member nations should be the ones to prevent, contain, and deter Putin, it seems they are doing a very poor job of it. We cannot stop training for a large scale military operation due to China flexing their muscles in the Pacific, and South China sea, as Australia, India, Japan, and South Korea are not a threat or deterrent to Chinese ambitions. The world is a mess, nothing new.
