Enforcing rules is one thing but that was completely excessive and chances are just telling Him would have been more than enough. That's NOT even a crime but a minor infraction of the rules. The crime involved here was an unjustified assault on a soldier by this Sergeant Major ! If anyone deserved to be handcuffed it was the Sergeant Major himself ! This type of Chicken Sh-- approach had no place anywhere.

SSG Robert Mark Odom at first glance it seems like overkill but should serve as an example of what letting your guard down can allow. Fortunately, it was a friendly vs an enemy. Hopefully lesson learned.

CPT Derek Wren
I apologize, but maybe I don’t see something that y’all see. The CPT was in civilian attire and as the Army Times article stated that he appeared to possibly be in work out clothing, not To mention that Pennsylvania national guard also put out that this gentleman was part of the all guard marathon team as well as a big marathon runner for the military so listening to music while you’re working out, especially in KUWAIT of all places, find something better to do with your time SGM like keeping an eye on the transient barracks that look like absolute shit, are completely overloaded, smell like ass due to bad HVAC and many other issues. But I guess headphones were more important that day lol.
Now I will say that in an actual combat zone, NOT Kuwait, I can that policy making complete since having been over 3 different times.

Well you know at that rank all they are allowed to do is supervise police call. You don't call the MP's on the Chaplin, have him arrested for working out in civilian clothing.
