Humphrey Bogart’s detective Marlowe is smoldering with Lauren Bacall’s character in the Big Sleep. Fun and witty repartee. Some say the two actors made some of the greatest film noir movies the world has seen. They also starred together in To Have and Have Not, Dark Passage (1947) and Key Largo (1948)
Lauren Bacall, 19, was a former model starring in her first leading film role when she met Humphrey Bogart, 45, on the set of “To Have and Have Not” in 1944. Despite their 25-year age gap, their relationship progressed quickly: The movie debuted on Jan. 20, 1945, Bogart was divorced soon after, and he and Bacall tied the knot on May 21, 1945. They would go on to have two children together, staying married until Bogart's death from cancer in 1957.

Those were great, but not as great as Bogart/Hepburn in African Queen, IMHO.

Both great but in different ways. Bacall sultry female interest, Hepburn older, more mature. She was interesting and believeable as a religious woman in AQ.
