Fort Sill trainees who stopped a suicide attempt receive promotions in basic

Tragedy averted by two basic trainees! Two army recruits step in to prevent a fellow trainee from committing suicide. Talk about taking charge of the situation.

As a side note, In all my military years, and subsequent, I’ve never heard the identification name of “Private Second Class” (even when I was one). When did this come about?
