That claim of the author that "common sense" goes out the window when guns are involved in self-defense is true enough. What the author fails to see is that descent into lack of "common sense" is on the part of the gun haters like himself.
He even describes the shooting of an attacker by the defender who was flat on his back in the street, as a "martyred hero" who tried to disarm that defender. I guess he would evaluate the Trayvon Martin/Zimmerman confrontation the same way -- Zimmerman had no right to shoot the guy on top of him bashing his head on the concrete.
That learned author tells us about the "unarmed skateboarder" who was a "victim" of that evil defender of his life. He conveniently omits the fact that the skateboarder WAS ARMED. He had a skateboard, and he USED IT as a bludgeon aimed at the head of the defender, who was flat on his back. But of course to the mind of a leftist the only weapons that can kill you are firearms. All those other homicides, by knife, bludgeon, or bare hands and feet. just don't count.
