I read Custer chose not to take a couple Gatling guns to the Battle of the Little Bighorn. I wonder what impact they would have had on the battle.

MAJ Ken Landgren
CW5 Jack Cardwell - I have a feeling they would not have mattered much because Custer went on the offense. They quickly attacked and I believe they went quickly on the defense or retreated. Custer's formation decided to fight it out but they were overwhelmed. Just off the top of my head Custer had 300 soldiers to perhaps 2000 braves. Custer had single shot rifles vs the braves' repeating rifles. It might as well been 300 soldiers vs 10,000 braves with the disparity of firearms. A quarter of his soldier were guarding the horses.
Oh hell I don't want to come across as a charlatan but want to share some more information. He made two horrible assumptions. He assumed the number of braves to be around 800, not 2000. He assumed gaining control of the children and women would cause the braves to sue for peace.
