SSG Robert Mark Odom I Never Saw the Need to Jump Out of Perfectly Good Working Aircraft. Now My Daughter and Grandchildren would love it.

CSM Charles Hayden - I'm Crazy but there's just some things. Yes I'll Climb Up the Inside or Outside the Mast of the Ship but it's almost impossible to Fall (Very Far) on the Inside is Safety Netting at Every Deck Level (Damn A Brancher I had was too Chicken S**t to Go Up It Even after I showed Him by Just Letting Go of the Ladder and Dropping into the Netting at the next level) On the Outside I wore a Speed Break, I could only Fall 6ft. Now My Daughter and Grandchildren have been trying to Out Do Me from the Get Go. The Only Place I Rule is in Salt Water (They Know Better) "Grandpa is Nuts, He Swims thru Jellyfish Schools and Plays with Sharks, Eels, and Sting Rays".

IMHO there is no reason for me to exit an aircraft, with a parachute, if said aircraft has a reasonable chance of landing safely.

I never got to jump a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, SSG Robert Mark Odom, since I left jump status in 1974. I did jump the jet powered Lockheed C-141 Starlifter numerous times. I could be wrong, but I think a jump from one is similar to a jump from the other.

LTC Stephen C. the C-17 is like riding a Cadillac into the sky and then jumping from it. It's so smooth you can stand out on the platform and smoke a cigarette. No prop blast, no twists.y only regret is that I never got to JM on one.

Sounds nice and easy, SFC (Join to see)! Thanks! The C-141 was the first plane I jumped where no exit position was required. You simply walked to the door and stepped out. It always seemed like the blast took me more away from the aircraft horizontally rather than downward. I remember looking at my boots out in front of me. It was a smooth and easy exit as well.

LTC Stephen C. the C-141 was the last place I jumped before I had my break in service in 2000. When I returned to jump status years later the other people in my chalk had never even heard of a C-141 lol

My first jump was from this horrific animal, SFC (Join to see), a Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar! I jumped this one at Fort Bragg, NC on 16JUL70, and the photo was taken at then Pope AFB. Thankfully, this underpowered aircraft (bucket of bolts) is no longer in service.
I can promise you that your buddies have never heard of this raggedy airplane!
