Despite the December 2021 article date, the Great Barrington Declaration dates back to October 2020. The letter which emphasized "herd immunity" by letting vulnerable populations die was sponsored by a libertarian think tank and denounced by legitimate scientific bodies. There was no vetting of signature authenticity and included a "Dr. Johnny Bananas" among others.
