The same motorcycle other than the Ural is fuel injected, has a modern flat twin, modern suspension, disk brakes, and modern electronics. Now that was not true as little as ten years ago, but Ural found that Western riders didn't like the fact that you could fix one with an adjustable wrench and a ball peen hammer, and often had to repair them. The new ones are really modern bikes and may be on my list so I can have a sidecar for the dog.
The Same can be said for the Enfield Bikes. When India first started exporting them to the States, they were essentially the same WWII bike the British used in India. They kind of flopped out side of those that are nostalgic for the days when riding meant wrenching. A friend has one of the Himalayan Bikes and it's a damn nice entry level Adventure Bike.

Cynthia C. - Go for it. The newer ones have a decent reputation for reliability. Not Honda and Yamaha class yet, but pretty good. They do have a couple of British Cool motorcycles.
A lot of bike makers made the mistake of making nostalgic bikes without the rather amazing reliability of modern bikes. Indian did it twice before Polaris bought the name and made an Indian Chief that looked the part with all the modern bells and whistles.
