President Trump has a very bad habit of shooting his mouth before his brain is engaged. However, at least his quick mouth serves as an early warning system for those around him to jump in and stop his more egregious intents. So, I'll withhold judgment as I am wont to do, until I see what actions he takes. I know there are those who judge others by their intentions, but the best of intentions are worthless without results.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - Honestly, I'd rather not have President Trump leading the nation. However, he has done one really great thing. He's distracted the government as well as our enemies. Did you notice how the economy heated up and employment rose ever since he was elected? Well, at least until the pandemic was unleashed on us. However, even now it's again heating up. No, President Trump didn't do that. We the People did that while President Trump got the government off our backs. Let me say that another way. No politician, no government agency can make the economy better. That's totally our doing. They can only get in the way. For the first time in decades the government is so distracted fighting among themselves, they don't have time to bother us. Now, if someone like Joe Biden is elected, someone who is easily manipulated by the Administrative State, the economy will resume failing as it did under Presidents Bush and Obama. And the economy is everything. Defense depends on it. Health and Welfare depend on it. Everything depends on it. And, by logical extenstion, everything depends on the people who drive the economy.

CW3 Michael Bodnar - The media portrays that he is wrong because he is often wrong on big issues.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - He has a core of staunch followers. Trump in their eyes can do no evil, but it appears that with each national issue he effs up, more people are moving left.

The US active military should really be an option of last resort when it comes to domestic issues. That's part of why the US military is a highly trusted institution among the civilian population.

SFC Bernard Walko - When one person in a peaceful protest throws an object towards Law Enforcement, the entire crowd is considered hostile at that point. It doesn't matter who you are, you are essentially guilty by association. Now, federal troops have been used over our brief history. The National Guard takes time to mobilize where the active troops just have to report to supply and the armory and they are ready to go. They should though be used as a backup.

SFC Bernard Walko - Hard to say, things happening in sequence doesn't imply causality. Mpls also charged all four of the officers at about the same time protests started getting peaceful too.

For comparison the initial Ferguson riots lasted about the same time before turning peaceful with no threats of federal intervention.

SFC Kevin Ford - There may be no connection between the statement and the diminished violence/looting. It seems to me they ran out of places to burn or loot since there was nothing left

SFC Bernard Walko - To be clear there is no official list of domestic terrorist organizations. No list with Antifa, KKK or any other organization you can think of.

As far as the violence ending quickly after Trump's announcement, that's a bit of wishful thinking. He made the announcement on the 1st. On the early hours of 2 June there were four St. Louis PD officers were shot and still widespread rioting. The following night of the 3rd, 2 NYPD officers shot and one stabbed, though it does appear the rioting substantially retracted on the 3rd.

As an FYI, the announcement that all four officers were being charged happened on the 3rd of June. If you want to make an argument that the rioting stopped shortly after an event, that one is much more proximate than Trump's announcement. Then again, any conclusion based on that would also be logically fallacious.

I would prefer we (active force) not be part of the solution to this, however, to keep saying it hasn't been done before is to ignore history. Wiskey Rebellion? Civil Rights enforcement?

Lt Col Charlie Brown here's the challenge....when politicians force history to be re-written and in some instances, taught, we have a problem like we're seeing of an un-educated society that is fueled by an agenda ridden news media. Instead of logical thought, members of society react of pure emotion and often look through the racial lens before applying any rational thought.

It was also used in 1992 by then President Bush against the rioters in LA. It is not, as some like to say, unprecedented. It should be used judiciously and as a last resort but it should be on the table, if needed.

Some argue with Trump's language that we want to dominate the streets. Well, if rioters are out of control, that is indeed what we want to do, take them back, dominate them. The only way people can peacefully assemble is to get the violence quelled and weed out the looney tunes in the crowd.
