That B2 would have flown in from the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman AFB, MO which is located only about 65 Miles from Kansas City Also from Whiteman AFB, MO was the A10's from the 442nd Fighter Wing and also T38 Talon Jets were also from Whiteman AFB.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter I actually went through ROTC summer camp at Pease during the summer of 1967. Little did I know that I would be assigned there for 2 tours and about 10 years.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Yes, i remember there was and entire three story barracks there at Pease dedicated to AF ROTC summer camp. There was also a AF ROTC summer camp at Otis AFB, MA right next to it We had a CAP summer encampment that consisted of a CAP Cadet Group, Six Squadrons of 2 Flights each plus a CAP color guard. We used the ROTC parade ground for our own parade in review which I organized and arranged the use of the facilities with the ROTC training staff. The music for the parade was the sound system that the ROTC had set up for their own camp. We also had a drill competition and had ROTC Cadets inspect and judge to fulfill some of their leadership requirements. The CAP Squadron A, (the female Squadron) won the drill competition. The cooperation between both the USAF and CAP staff plus the Cadets from CAP and ROTC was outstanding. I was in charge of all the Military training for the CAP Cadets during the encampment and although was still on active duty in the USAF as an NCO was an Officer in CAP.

During my time in a USAF Uniform We had a guest speaker at the Hanscom AFB, MA Base Theater which was none other than Brigadier General Paul Tibbits, USAF (Ret) who had been the pilot on the Enola Gay which of course was the B29 of the 509th Composite Group that dropped the first atomic bomb is warfare. I attended that event and with Him also to speak were both His Bombadier and Navigator from the Enola Gay on that mission. Hearing the first hand account was something I'll never foret. After it was over General Tibbits still hung around approx 2 hours just to talk to people and I had the chance to talk as an individual to Him plus His bombadier and navigator.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter I had hoped to get Otis for summer camp since we lived on Cape Cod but no such luck. The irony of those barracks at Pease was that they used prisoners from the Portsmouth Naval Prison to 'prep' them for ROTC cadets. You can imagine the surprises they left behind for us.
