What action should central banks be taking to combat coronavirus?

The Fed has always and will continue to follow the specific narrow mission set by the Congress. Maintain liquidity, manage the money supply, manage inflation and interest rates, keep financial markets working. They ONLY manage that narrow segment of the Economy, the rest belongs to Congress (ie: how much your take home wages rise per year, balancing immigration with maintaining a standard of living).
