Hard choices is an interesting idea. Personally I have found that my hard choices really were not as hard as I thought just more difficult to get right.

1. The daily focus of Hard choices brought-to-mind the challenge brought to King Solomon in the Book of Kings - two women claimed to be the mother of a child in days long before birth certificates were common.
a. In that case, King Solomon wisely chose the harder path - divide the child in half - the true mother pleaded for the child.
2. As a soldier and leader of soldiers I had to make many hard decisions over 30 years.
a. I learned long ago the process of decisions and the cutoff for the 'good-idea fairy' to submit additional options.
3. I insisted on risking my own life before I risked the lives of the soldiers assigned to my charge. I risked my life many times with explosives, grenades, mortar rounds, vehicular decisions.
4. I learned to accept responsibility at a young age and spoke the truth when questioned by police detectives when arrested, my company commander at my company grade article 15, commandant disciplinary board at USMAPS, brigade disciplinary board at USMA, General grade article 15 in Ansbach, Germany.
5. Most of us have made difficult choices in personal relationships and I expect our heart has been broken at times by others choice to end the relationship - hard for us and sometimes easy for them.

Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs Life is a series of choices. When we look back we see how our path twists and turns depending on the choices we made along the way. Sometimes just staying here in this life is a hard choice for some people; I try to help people make that choice to keep going until the path gets easier or assistance comes to help them over what they thought was unsurmountable. The strength to keep going can be found in many places...now is the time to help those in tough spots make those choices if you can.
