A question for somebody who might have worked at 8th and I, maybe an NCO? My question is about the drill manual. It looks like the marching companies and staff use some non-standard drill moves. For example, not stepping off with a full 30" pace from a halt or after a turn or flanking movement. It also appears that the drum major uses a different manual of the mace than other USMC drum majors (sharpest in the world, I might add).

Is any of this stuff written down anywhere? It looks great.....

Thanks.

Since 1775. They have their own way of doing things at 8th and I. I know there are many rules and processes regarding selection and training.

Great Parade! Difficult to watch! Those Natines were good - and represent all of our military with the skills they displayed!

I was surprised at the applause after execution of a Manual of Arms movement. To my mind, that is what our service people are trained to do!

Not an officer in the bunch either. It was intended to be that way for this one.
