Have small group of the rifle platoon stand guard while Engineers and rest of platoon build up a fortification to defend the area, set up forward observers with commo.

Not sure they could string 10 miles of wire in 12 hours with around 50 men, but I was thinking same with barrier assets and demo on sand, especially concertina on road. LP/OP are a given in defense. Perimeter security and security with engrs. The sand on west flank looks like good boat landing and closest avenue. Claymores and a pair of interlocked M60s, with a squad QRF backing. Spread squads around. West squad is Security. South is Assault/HQ for potential L shaped envelopment from S. North is in Support and reserves. Demo and field of fire on lone road leading in from S in case they get sneaky by landing more south and acquiring lift along the way. All squads be prepared to shift on signal.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - It's the same concept with any weapons, three truckloads of shooters, 3 or more for support in trace. Maybe 12 black Suburbans. Cartel style out of Memphis.
