Funny thing about the GI Bill; it is for GIs.
You know, people who signed a contract giving a portion of their life to their country.
Will "everybody" sign such a contract? If they were signing up for the Peace Corps, or some form of community service for a period of years, I am willing to have this discussion. But this proposal is just a rebranding of the "free college" proposal espoused by certain candidates in order to establish equivalency with a successful program. It is a pretty safe bet that this notion will be roundly rejected by actual Veterans who earned this benefit.
