Learning of Kirk Douglass' passing saddened me - I'm 70 and he has been a part of my life since I first formed memories. But I knew he had to go sometime - I just hope he went peacefully. I particularly remember his performance as a WWI French Army commander with five of his men accused of cowardice - very intense! So was his performance as Vincent van Gogh in "Lust for Life." Somehow, I don't think that will ever be surpassed.
