Look, if you want to hand out pens to commemorate things, have at it. But you know this is entirely different when you call this moment a "solemn moment" in our history and then, in turn, you go on public TV making a spectacle of the so called "solemn moment," with all smiles, as if she just passed a major bipartisan bill. It was bad optics and you know it. But instead you have to find examples of more bad behavior to justify the monumentally dumb move by Pelosi.
The tradition of giving out commemorative pens should be for positive things like signing major legislation which actually has a chance of getting signed by a President, or accepting the unconditional surrender of an enemy after years of war. Hell, even CNN criticized the public display.

The point of the GOP outrage is hypocritical.
The pens are commemorating an important event in history that is extremely rare. So the giving them out is not wrong, but the manner in which they were given probably could have been done better.

You read nothing I wrote did you? The issue wasn't with the pens, it was the display. Was there a pen ceremony for the Authorization for the use of force in Iraq?
