The two smartest Presidents in my lifetime (IMO) were Nixon and Carter. Obviously smarts weren't any great advantage. The President is an executive, someone who can delegate authority but not responsibility (Truman was the best example of that). The President also has to be an effective sales person. Although the President can dictate to the White House staff, the electorate doesn't take to that kind of handling kindly. They need to be sold. Kennedy was great at that. So is President Trump however although about half the nation is buying what he's selling, the other half isn't regardless of the value of what he has to offer. Their irrational hatred won't allow them to buy into anything.

Great points.

In modern history, aside from objective acts of war and/or terrorism, when has the other half of the nation ever agreed with the President from the opposing party? The partisan divide didn't begin with President Trump, Obama, Clinton, or Bush; although it may have gotten worse over time, with ongoing presidents receiving larger portions of the blame (from their opposition).

The last thing we took from the British we threw it into the harbor.

joke aside, interesting read.

criticism though,

"He was able to pick up on things that normal, mentally healthy, stable persons, like Hillary Clinton, for instance, did not."
