Good morning from cold Northern Virginia. We've been colder than Michigan lately at least overnight.
Competence. An underrated skill. Just because you have a degree or you've been put in a position by someone or by the public doesn't mean you are competent. We're watching this happen daily. Competence takes practice. If you know and stay within your circle of competence, you will be fine. If you want to increase it, do the work! Don't claim what you can't back up, it will come back to bite you.

Currently low 40s here in the mitten. Leadership is key to us as vets/Active. I think even when you're not in a supervisory position you can still be a leader. Great post.

Excellent I couldn't agree more Lt. Colonel Charlie Brown. Competency requires practice.
Because mistakes made in practice are often our best teacher. Better to make those mistakes in a class room. Lab or other controlled environment rather than on a mission where mistakes can mean fatal.

Love Warren Buffett!! I'm paraphrasing as I don't know the exact quote but he made mention that even he picks up a penny on the sidewalk as it's money that he didn't have before.

COL Mikel Burroughs good read/share: for the Colonel's Motivational Quotes of the Day. Where the mighty American Bald Eagles roam in the mighty MOUNTAINS OF CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO AMONG THIER EAGLES-NEST. I know the view must be MAGNIFICIENT on this day December 21, 2019 as you might glance upon the mighty snow capped mountains headed into the month/year of January 2020. As you know I would respond a lot throughout the week, but I am full-time DOD employee doing contracts for the Defense Contracting Management Agency. It is good to have sometime on the weekend before I start my running around to respond my friend.
Today's theme is "COMPETENCE DAY" as a NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICER IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY FOR 20 1/2 YEARS AS AN NCO. I LIVE BY THE NCO CREED in the CIVILIAN WORLD ALSO.

Good “Saturday” Morning SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL there is no doubt you live by that creed my friend. Since I was an NCO at one time my 37 year career I too live by that creed when it comes to competency Joe. Have a great day and enjoy the rest of the weekend
