Any time the media speaks as if we were united in our views of things like this, they are wrong.

I dislike the media for that and many other reasons. They assume that their 24/7 regurgitation makes us automatically agree with their position. Polls are often pre-planned as well. I pay rent on my brain housing group, so I get to call my own shots.

SSG Robert Mark Odom Anything the NY Times posts/writes I take with a grain of salt. This is their opinion and I do not believe the opinion/feelings of the majority.

Just love how someone always brings up Manning; ignoring how Manning was convicted, served time, still has a felony record that will prevent Manning from ever having a job that requires a security clearance ever again. Justice served.

Meanwhile Trump’s action says a guy like Golsteyn can act as judge, jury and executioner when he doesn’t agree with an order to release a detainee. Gallagher can demonstrate behavior that violate code of the Seals and not be held accountable. How many times do we have to go over the one detail where Gallagher stabbed the wounded ISIS prisoner in the shoulder area non fatally before the medic finished off the guy. Clearly naval leaders weren’t happy with that part of the testimony.

In the end I think the polling is split cause sourcing data is always skewed. The SecNav that resigned in disgrace cause he went around the SecDef on this; not cause he was going to take Gallagher’s Trident was a Trump appointee not a Never Trumper that rhetoric on some Conservative media outlets was spewing.

You are comparing Manning's crimes to this? Manning should still be in prison...for the rest of his life. He aided and abetted the ENEMY...He passed on National Security Secrets or rather communicating National Defense to the enemy.... and information he had no right to pass on...Manning committed ESPIONAGE...an offense punishable by DEATH, but instead received a 32 year sentence and only served ONLY 7 YEARS....which is BULLCRAP! He...I will never refer to him as a SHE just because he had surgery....is a TRAITOR to our COUNTRY. His crimes were real, ON PURPOSE and put many many of our brothers and sisters in HARMS way. MANNING should NEVER EVER have a JOB in any GOVERNMENT office...EVER!!

Sgt Kelli Mays Yeah I was responding to the one Vet within the article that mentioned his dislike of Obama administration’s commutation of Manning in comparison to Gallagher. You did read that far into the article?

Manning illegally leaked classified information to what we can debate was a journalistic source. That’s not espionage. Now what Snowden did by taking American secrets to China and Russia was indeed espionage. You shouldn’t miscategorize something to make your argument.

Convicted for treasonous acts or acquitted for taking a picture with a dead terrorist he killed. I'm not seeing an apples to apples comparison.
